What is Humiabsorbent dessicant?

A desiccant is a hygroscopic substance that induces or sustains a state of dryness in it local vicinity in a moderately well sealed container or packing box. Humiabsorbent is calcium chloride desiccant which is very aggressively absorb moisture from the air,   reducing the humidity in cargo container and create dry environment in cargo container. Humiabsorbent is natural absorbent with gelling agent, thus the product is safe and friendly environment.

What types of desiccant?

Silica gel, calcium sulfate, calcium chloride, montmorillonite clay, and molecular sieves are commonly used as desiccant. Among of the above desiccant types, Calcium chloride is quite effective in absorbing moisture. It has a natural antibiotic and anti fungal effect, and not harmful to human when consumed in moderate quantities. Clay is also popular base material for packed desiccant. It is effective in absorbing moisture and quite low cost production. The weakness of clay as desiccant is that clay to absorb moisture but it will release the moisture once it gets its saturation level or when it been heated. Silica gel also has the same feature with clay, there fore both silica gel and clay can be recycled by thermally induced drying.

How does Humiabsorbent desiccant work?

Humiabsorbent desiccant protect product through process which called as adsorption. Where one substance is chemically integrated into another, during adsorption, moisture is held inside a desiccant by physical bonds and no chemical changes. Humiabsorbent desiccant adsorb this moisture quickly and thoroughly, preventing condensation during transport and storage. The desiccant then starts into a gel as it is continues to absorb moisture.

How To Use

1. Container Inspection
Check the container condition, whether there is a hole or crack on the top, side and bottom wall of container. Container door and seal must be on good condition and can be closed tightly. Also the container must be in dry and clean condition. Please check the humidity of wood floor if the container use wood floor, and insure the humidity is no more than 20% as it would increase the risk of damp or you need to increase the dosage of desiccant.

2. Seal Air Ventilation On The Container Wall
Desiccant is effective in a close environment. If the container door is not closed tightly, there is leakage on container, or air ventilation is not closed properly, desiccant will not able to absorb the moisture which continually enter from outside. There fore please insure container in a close condition.

3. Inspect Packaging Bag Condition
Check the packaging bag condition to insure no leakage or damage during transportation. Do not use the leakage or damage product as it has possibility been exposed to moisture.

4. Installation of Humiabsorbent desiccant
Open the packaging bag and hang the Humiabsorbent desiccant to the iron hoop of the container wall. The quantity for some really dry cargo e.g. steel coil, spare part, house holds, textile needs 6 - 8 units of Humiabsorbent for 20 ft and 8 – 10 unit for 40 ft. For most of normal cargo needs 8 - 10 units for 20 ft and 10 – 12 units for 40 ft. For some cargo which is very difficult of moisture properties on long voyage, e.g. furniture, agriculture products needs 10 - 12 units for 20 ft and 12 – 14…

5. Load the goods to container and close container’s door tightly
Stack the products neatly and please make sure not cover the surface of the desiccant container.

Hazard Identification
  - Not classified as hazardous under the OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
First Aid
  - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air immediately. Give artificial respiration if breathing has stopped.
  - Consult to doctor incase of symptoms.
  - Ingestion: If the victim conscious, gives large quantity of drink. Do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately.
  - Eyes contact: Rinse with opened eye carefully for 30 minutes under running water. Get medical attention immediately.
  - Skin contact: Wash with soap and plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation or inflammation develops.
Fire-fighting Measures
  - Fighting Media: Dry Chemical, water spray or foam.
  - Fire Fighting Procedures: Cool containers that are exposed to flame with water until fire is out. For massive fire in enclosed area, use unmanned house holder or monitor nozzles. If this is impossible withdraw from enclosed area and let fire burn.
Accidental Release Measures
  - The powders are normally contained within sealed dustproof pouches.
  - Sweep up spillage or waste and collect in containers. Avoid dust, flush clean with water.

Handling, Storage and Transportation Precautions
  - Handling: Good industrial hygiene, avoid contact with skin and eyes.
  - Storage: Store in original a closed container in dry and well ventilated place.
  - Transportation: Not dangerous goods according to transport regulation.
Exposure Controls / Personal protections
  Undamaged products can be handled safely without any protection measures.
  The powder is contained within sealed dust proof pouches and will not be released during normal use.
  In case powder is released:
  - Use respirator if heavy dusting
  - Use safety glass for eye protection
  - Use gloves for hand protection
  - Use clothing if necessary for skin protection.

Stability: stable under normal condition
React with or material to avoid:
  - Sulfuric acid: yields hydrogen chloride gas, which is corrosive, irritating and reactive.
  - Water reactive material such as sodium: cause an exothermic reaction.
  - Methyl vinyl ether: stars runaway polymerization reaction.
  - Zinc as in galvanized iron: yields hydrogen gas with solutions, which may explode under these condition.
Hazardous decomposition or by products: Oxides of carbon, addition of alkaline compound, may result ammoniacal compound.

  - Inhalation: Dust can cause irritation to the mucous membranes resulting in coughing and difficulty in breathing at high dust concentration.
  - Skin Irritation: May cause skin irritation. Prolonged skin irritation may cause redness and blistering.

  - Ingestion: Ingestion may cause irritation in nose and throat, intestinal ad gastric disturbances.
